Abstract:
A compression ignition engine is provided with: a first fuel supply unit 19 that supplies naphtha; a second fuel supply unit 18 that supplies diesel fuel; EGR gas recirculation units 51, 51a that recirculate exhaust gas to a combustion chamber 14a; and a control unit 10 for controlling the aforementioned components. The control unit 10 determines whether the operating range of an engine body 1 is a low load range or a high load range. When in the low load range, the control unit 10 outputs a control signal to the first fuel supply unit 19 indicating that at least naphtha is to be supplied and, when the air-fuel ratio enters the range of 14.5-15.0, outputs a control signal to the EGR gas recirculation unit 51a indicating that the EGR rate is to be set so as to be higher than when in the high load range.
