Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a catalyst or adsorbent carrier production method and a catalyst or adsorbent carrier which can enhance the catalyst or adsorbent function, and further, which can prevent shedding of catalyst or adsorbent particles. [Solution] The surface of a metal base material 10 made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy is subjected to etching processing using an etching liquid containing an iron chloride and an oxide, whereby the surface is converted to an uneven rough surface 2. The metal base material surface converted to the uneven rough surface 2 is subjected to alumite processing, whereby a porous coating film 3 is formed along the uneven rough surface 2. Multiple catalyst or adsorbent particles 4 are carried on the surface of the metal base material having the porous coating film 3 formed along the uneven rough surface.
