Title: COMBUSTION CHAMBER STRUCTURE FOR ENGINES
Abstract:
A combustion chamber structure for engines, comprising: a piston crown surface; a combustion chamber ceiling surface; an injector and a spark plug that are provided in the combustion chamber ceiling surface; and an intake port and an exhaust port that are opened in the combustion chamber ceiling surface. The spark plug has the ignition section thereof arranged on the intake port side and ignites at a timing after the piston has passed the compression top dead center, when the center section of the combustion chamber is used as a reference and, in the planar view from one side in the cylinder axial direction, the side on which the intake port is opened is the intake port side and the side on which the exhaust port is opened is the exhaust port side. The injector is arranged in the center section and is configured so as to be able to inject fuel towards the exhaust port side. The piston crown surface includes a cavity recessed in the cylinder axial direction, in a region further on the exhaust port side than a lower section of the ignition unit. Provided in the combustion chamber is a reverse squish flow generating unit that draws in the air-fuel mixture towards the intake port side, in conjunction with the movement of the piston during the expansion stroke.
