Abstract:
The present invention provides a negative electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell that contains negative electrode active material particles, the negative electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell being characterized in that: the negative electrode active material particles contain silicon compound particles that contain a silicon compound (SiOx: 0.5 ≤ x ≤ 1.6); the silicon compound particles contain an Li compound; at least a portion of the silicon compound particles is covered by a carbon material; and the surface of the silicon compound particles, the surface of the carbon material, or at least a portion of both of these is covered by a layer that contains a compound having a silyl group. There is thereby provided a negative electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell having high stability with respect to an aqueous slurry, high capacity, and excellent cycle characteristics and initial efficiency.
