The present invention describes a method for producing a three-dimensional object by means of 3D printing on a substrate. First, a specified first beginning (2) and a specified first end (3) are established. Between these two points, a printing pattern (8) is applied in rectilinear subsections of a first predetermined length as a maximum for the respective lengths of the subsections. At a transition from one of the subsections to another of the subsections there is a change in the direction of the printing pattern (8). The printing patterns (8) may in particular have a U-shaped structure (6), a zigzag-shaped structure (7) or a sinusoidal structure (17). These structures generally have a number of break points (10, 10’, 10’’,…), at which an abrupt change in direction of the printing pattern (8) takes place. At least one change in direction of the printing pattern (8) is at least 45 degrees. The method may additionally or alternatively provide that, between the specified first beginning (2) and the specified first end (3), the printing pattern (8) is provided with interruptions (9), wherein the interruptions (9) have at least the extent of a second predetermined length.
