[Problem] To provide a metal recovery method capable of being used in a wide range of conditions without limitation upon range of applicability. [Solution] A metal recovery method in which a metal recovery carrier and a medium containing metal ions are brought into contact, the metal ions in the medium are bonded to the surface of an outer layer of the metal recovery carrier, and the metal recovery carrier is separated from the medium. The outer layer of the metal recovery carrier is a biologically inactive material constituted by double phospholipid films. Porins derived from gram-negative bacteria pass through the double phospholipid films. A metal ion bonding peptide motif is introduced into a region of the amino acid sequence of the porins that will not negatively affect porin functioning in the gram-negative bacteria. The metal ion bonding peptide motif is presented on the surfaces of the double phospholipid films.
