Abstract:
Systems and methods for use with the communication protocol, SecureDataShot (SDS), employ an addressing scheme to allow addresses of different lengths to coexist on the same radio channel. Depending on the need, choosing a very short address (8-bit) or a longer address (16, 24 or 32 bit), such that where it is possible to uniquely identify the node based on only an 8-bit address in combination with information about which gateway it is connected to and which encryption key that yield a correct authentication test, use only 8 bits and when there is a need for more information, a longer address is used. Nodes using short and longer address can coexist on the same network and talk to the same gateway without interfering with each other by using Little Endian Base 128.
