A multi-unit communication control based intelligent lighting control system and control method. The control system comprises a remote control center, a centralized controller, a light source terminal, and an LED lamp source. The centralized controller is connected with the remote control center and the light source terminal respectively through a wired network and/or wireless network, and the light source terminal is connected with the LED lamp source. The remote control center implements remote control on the LED lamp source, takes charge of LED management in real time and processes data from a downlink, and the centralized controller performs centralized control and auto-polling on the light source terminal and processes a data feedback from the light source terminal. The light source terminal comprises a sensor module, a dimming module, a storage module, a communication module and a real-time clock module, the dimming module being connected with the LED lamp source. According to the control system and the control method, multiple communication modes are combined, thus improving the reliability of the system and enabling the system to adapt to various actual needs more flexibly and control the lamp source stably and efficiently.
