Abstract

The invention relates to a compact device which serves as a controlled rotary damper using smart fluids and which can be easily adapted to different applications. The device consists of a rotor having perforated curved blades joined to the solid or hollow rotary shaft which moves inside a casing filled with smart fluid. External magnetic or electric excitation is applied to the device in order to apply a magnetic or electric field to the smart fluid and, in this way, provide a controlled resistance for damping.

Un aparato compacto que provea un amortiguamiento rotativo controlado utilizando fluidos inteligentes y que sea fácilmente adaptable a varias aplicaciones. El aparato consiste en un rotor con aspas curvas perforadas unidas al eje rotatorio, sólido o hueco, que se mueve dentro de una carcasa llena de fluido inteligente. El aparato es provisto con una excitación magnética o eléctrica externa para aplicar un campo magnético o eléctrico al fluido inteligente y así proveer de una resistencia controlada para el amortiguamiento.

L'invention concerne un appareil compact qui fournit un amortissement rotatif contrôlé au moyen de fluides intelligents et qui peut être facilement adapté à diverses applications. L'appareil consiste en un rotor à pales courbes perforées reliées à l'axe rotatif, solide ou creux, qui se déplace dans un boîtier rempli de fluide intelligent. L'appareil est équipé d'une excitation magnétique ou électrique externe pour appliquer un champ magnétique ou électrique au fluide intelligent et fournir ainsi une résistance contrôlée pour l'amortissement.
