Abstract

A system and method for transitioning between an autonomous and manual driving mode based on detection of a driver's capacity to control a vehicle are disclosed. A particular embodiment includes: receiving sensor data related to a vehicle drivers capacity to take manual control of an autonomous vehicle; determining, based on the sensor data, if the driver has the capacity to take manual control of the autonomous vehicle, the determining including prompting the driver to perform an action or provide an input; and outputting a vehicle control transition signal to a vehicle subsystem to cause the vehicle subsystem to take action based on the driver's capacity to take manual control of the autonomous vehicle.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de transition entre un mode de conduite autonome et manuel basé sur la détection de la capacité d'un conducteur à commander un véhicule. Un mode de réalisation particulier consiste à : recevoir des données de capteur associées à la capacité d'un conducteur de véhicule à prendre la commande manuelle d'un véhicule autonome ; déterminer, sur la base des données de capteur, si le conducteur est apte à prendre la commande manuelle du véhicule autonome, la détermination comprenant l'étape consistant à demander au conducteur d'effectuer une action ou de fournir une entrée ; et transmettre un signal de transition de commande de véhicule à un sous-système de véhicule pour amener le sous-système de véhicule à entreprendre une action sur la base de la capacité du conducteur à prendre la commande manuelle du véhicule autonome.
