Abstract:
The invention relates to a biofuel cell and also to an assembly comprising at least two biofuel cells according to the invention. The biofuel cell of the invention is intended to be immersed in a liquid medium L containing a biofuel and an oxidising agent, and comprises: - a first electrode chosen from an anode A consisting of a solid agglomerate of a conductive material mixed with a first enzyme capable of catalysing the oxidation of the biofuel and a cathode K consisting of a solid agglomerate of a conductive material mixed with a second enzyme capable of catalysing the reduction of the oxidising agent produced at the anode A, - a second electrode, different from the first electrode, said electrode being chosen from an anode A consisting of a solid agglomerate of a conductive material mixed with a first enzyme capable of catalysing the oxidation of the biofuel and a cathode K consisting of a solid agglomerate of a conductive material mixed with a second enzyme capable of catalysing the reduction of the oxidising agent produced at the anode A, - a separating membrane S, made of an electrically insulating material which is permeable to the liquid medium L, placed between the anode A and the cathode K, characterized in that it comprises, in addition, a means D for diffusing the liquid medium L from the first electrode to the second electrode through the separating membrane S, and in that the anode A, the separating membrane S and the cathode K are in contact with one another. The invention is of use in the field of the storage and release of energy, in particular.
