Abstract:
(EN) According to the present disclosure, a method of forming an exfoliated or intercalated filler material is provided, wherein the said method comprises the steps of mixing particles of filler material such as montmorillonite (MMT), mica, layered double hydroxide (LDH), and attapulgite (AT) dispersed in an aqueous medium with cationic acrylate monomers to form modified particles comprising positively charged ions, dispersing the modified particles in organic medium to form a dispersion, contacting said dispersion with an organo-silicate such as tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and a functionalizing agent comprising an organo-silane such as aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS), in the presence of a basic catalyst to form a layer of silica on the modified particles. The present disclosure also relates to an exfoliated or intercalated filler material obtained by the said method as well as a method of forming a resin/clay nanocomposite.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé de formation d'un matériau de remplissage exfolié ou intercalé, ledit procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à mélanger des particules de matériau de remplissage, telles que de la montmorillonite (MMT), du mica, de l'hydroxyde double lamellaire (LDH), et de l'attapulgite (AT) dispersés dans un milieu aqueux avec des monomères d'acrylate cationiques pour former des particules modifiées comprenant des ions chargés positivement, disperser des particules modifiées dans un milieu organique pour former une dispersion, mettre en contact de ladite dispersion avec un organo-silicate tel que l'orthosilicate de tétraéthyle (TEOS) et un agent de fonctionnalisation comprenant un organo-silane tel que l'aminopropyltriméthoxysilane (APTMS), en présence d'un catalyseur basique pour former une couche de silice sur les particules modifiées. La présente invention concerne également un matériau de remplissage exfolié ou intercalé obtenu par ledit procédé ainsi qu'un procédé de formation d'un nanocomposite résine/argile.
