Title: LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND PRODUCTION METHOD FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Abstract:
The present invention provides: a liquid crystal display device capable of increasing the peeling strength between substrates; and a production method for liquid crystal display devices that is capable of producing this kind of liquid crystal display device. This liquid crystal display device comprises: a liquid crystal layer containing a liquid crystal material; a sealing material arranged so as to surround the liquid crystal layer in the planar view; a pair of substrates sandwiching the liquid crystal layer; and an alignment control layer arranged so as to come in contact with the liquid crystal layer, inside the area surrounded by the sealing material in the planar view. The alignment control layer: aligns a liquid crystal compound inside the liquid crystal material horizontally, relative to the substrate surface; and contains a polymer comprising at least one type of monomer that has been polymerized. The at least one type of monomer includes a monomer indicated by chemical formula (1). (In the formula, at least one hydrogen atom in a phenylene group can be the same or different and can be substituted with a halogen atom, a methyl group, an ethyl group, or a propyl group.)
