Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an electrode for a lithium ion secondary cell that has both excellent high-current properties and high durability even when the void fraction of the electrode is sufficiently increased, and a lithium ion secondary cell. [Solution] A positive electrode for a lithium ion secondary cell, the positive electrode including a current collector in which a covering layer is formed on one or both surfaces of a sheet-shaped electrically conductive substrate, and a positive electrode active material layer formed on the covering layer, wherein the positive electrode is characterized in that: the covering layer contains a granular electrically conductive material and a first binder; the positive electrode active material layer contains a positive electrode active material, a conductivity auxiliary agent, and a second binder; the void fraction of the positive electrode active material layer is 43-64%; and the difference (Ra1 - Ra2) between the surface roughness Ra1 of the covering layer and the surface roughness Ra2 of the electrically conductive substrate surface covered by the covering layer is 0.10-0.40 μm.
