A coherent photonic analog-to-digital converter, comprising: an optical clock oscillation source (1), a signal source (4) to be sampled, a photonic sampling gate (3), a photoelectric detection module (5), an electrical sampling module (7), a phase detection module (9), a loop filter (10), and signal feedback links (11, 12). Clock jitter is reduced by adjusting the optical clock oscillation source (1) or the signal source (4) to be sampled to enable high coherence thereof, thus significantly improving sampling accuracy. This is a key factor in improving the performance of microwave photonic systems requiring a high temporal and sampling precision, such as a microwave photonic radar and optical communication system.
