The invention provides a composition rich in flavonoids based on natural extracts, comprising a flavonoid extract dispersed by melt mixing or extrusion and encapsulated in a polymer matrix. The invention is also a novel dietary supplement with the naturally occurring ingredient (-)- epicatechin, cacao extracted, that could potentially prevent or reduce the risk of Atherosclerotic pathology. The use of (-)-epicatechin is promising as a therapeutic agent due to its potential antioxidant activity and its diverse biological properties. (-)- Epicatechins are chemically unstable and extensively degraded in fluids of near neutral or greater pH, such as intestinal juice and bile. Current technologies used for taste masking and modified release as spray drying, liposome entrapment, co-crystallization, freeze drying, among others, suffer from numerous shortcomings, including poor repeatability and limitations on target delivery.

L'invention concerne une composition riche en flavonoïdes à base d'extraits naturels, comprenant un extrait de flavonoïde dispersé par mélange ou extrusion à l'état fondu et encapsulé dans une matrice polymère. L'invention concerne également un nouveau complément alimentaire contenant l'ingrédient d'origine naturelle (-)-épicatéchine, un extrait de cacao, qui pourrait potentiellement prévenir ou réduire le risque de pathologie athéroscléreuse. L'utilisation de la (-)-épicatéchine est prometteuse en tant qu'agent thérapeutique en raison de son activité antioxydante potentielle et de ses diverses propriétés biologiques. Les (-)-épicatéchines sont chimiquement instables et fortement dégradées dans les fluides de pH quasiment neutre ou supérieur, tels que les sucs intestinaux et la bile. Les technologies actuelles utilisées pour le masquage du goût et la libération modifiée par séchage par atomisation, piégeage dans des liposomes, co-cristallisation, lyophilisation, entre autres, souffrent de nombreux inconvénients, notamment une faible répétabilité et des limitations concernant l'administration ciblée.
