The invention relates to methods for assisting a driver of a vehicle (2), comprising the steps of determining a wind speed and/or a wind direction by means of a laser system (4), recognizing a critical crosswind component (700) at which the wind speed and/or the wind direction exceeds a predefined threshold value, and outputting a crosswind warning (600).

La présente invention concerne un procédé servant à assister un conducteur d'un véhicule (2). Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à définir une vitesse du vent et/ou une direction du vent au moyen d'un système laser (4), identifier une composante de vent latéral (700) critique, dans laquelle la vitesse du vent et/ou la direction du vent dépassent une valeur seuil prédéfinie, et émettre une alerte de vent latéral (600).
