Abstract:
(EN) Provided is an aluminum secondary battery comprising an anode, a cathode, a porous separator electronically separating the anode and the cathode, and an electrolyte in ionic contact with the anode and the cathode to support reversible deposition and dissolution of aluminum at the anode, wherein the anode contains aluminum metal or an aluminum metal alloy as an anode active material and the cathode comprises a layer of recompressed exfoliated graphite or carbon material that is oriented in such a manner that the layer has a graphite edge plane in direct contact with the electrolyte and facing the separator. Typically, this graphite edge plane is substantially parallel to the separator layer plane. Such an aluminum battery delivers a high energy density, high power density, and long cycle life.
(FR) L'invention concerne une batterie secondaire à l'aluminium comprenant une anode, une cathode, un séparateur poreux séparant électroniquement l'anode et la cathode, et un électrolyte en contact ionique avec l'anode et la cathode pour supporter le dépôt et la dissolution réversibles de l'aluminium au niveau de l'anode, l'anode contenant de l'aluminium métallique ou un alliage d'aluminium métallique comme matériau actif d'anode et la cathode comprenant une couche de matériau de graphite ou de carbone exfolié recomprimé qui est orientée de sorte que la couche présente un plan de bord de graphite en contact direct avec l'électrolyte et faisant face au séparateur. Typiquement, ce plan de bord de graphite est sensiblement parallèle au plan de couche de séparateur. Une telle batterie à l'aluminium fournit une densité d'énergie élevée, une densité de puissance élevée et une longue durée de vie.
