Title: MURINE MYOPIA INDUCTION MODEL AND ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM STRESS INHIBITOR FOR PREVENTING OR SUPPRESSING MYOPIA
Abstract:
A model closely resembling human high myopia can be constructed by fitting a juvenile mouse with a minus lens capable of angle and width adjustment in correspondence to the growth of the mouse, and with a protector. Analysis with this model indicated that endoplasmic reticulum stress is produced in the sclera by the induction of myopia, and that myopia is induced by the endoplasmic reticulum stress. Moreover, endoplasmic reticulum stress inhibitors, particularly phenylbutyric acid and tauroursodeoxycholic acid, were shown to function as agents for preventing or inhibiting myopia.
