The present technology relates to an information processing device and information processing method with which it is possible to easily pass an oncoming vehicle on a narrow road, etc. Provided is an information processing device, comprising: a map generation unit which generates map data of the periphery of a vehicle, and which updates the map data in accordance with the movement of the vehicle; and a turnout space detection unit which, on the basis of the map data, detects a turnout space which is a space whereat it is possible for the vehicle to make a turnout, and generates turnout space information which relates to the detected turnout space and is used to set an avoidance path which the vehicle is caused to take in order to pass an oncoming vehicle. As an example, the present technology may be applied to a vehicle control system which carries out an autonomous driving control.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de traitement d'informations et un procédé de traitement d'informations avec lesquels il est possible de passer facilement un véhicule approchant en sens inverse sur une route étroite, etc. L'invention concerne un dispositif de traitement d'informations, comprenant : une unité de production de carte qui produit des données de carte de la périphérie d'un véhicule, et qui met à jour les données de carte en fonction du mouvement du véhicule; et une unité de détection d'espace de demi-tour qui, en fonction des données de carte, détecte un espace de demi-tour qui est un espace au niveau duquel il est possible que le véhicule effectue un demi-tour, et produit des informations d'espace de demi-tour qui concernent l'espace de demi-tour détecté et sont utilisées pour définir un trajet d'évitement que le véhicule est amené à prendre afin de passer un véhicule approchant en sens inverse. 本技術は、狭い道等において対向車と容易にすれ違うことができるようにする情報処理装置及び情報処理方法に関する。 情報処理装置は、車両の周囲の地図データを生成し、前記車両の移動に合わせて前記地図データを更新するマップ生成部と、前記地図データに基づいて、前記車両が待避可能なスペースである待避スペースを検出し、検出された前記待避スペースに関する情報であって、対向車とすれ違うために前記車両を退避させる退避経路の設定に用いられる情報である待避スペース情報を生成する待避スペース検出部とを備える。本技術は、例えば、自動運転の制御を行う車両制御システムに適用できる。
