The rotary compressor according to an embodiment is provided with a rotating shaft, an electric motor unit, a compressor mechanism, and a closed container housing the rotation shaft, the electric motor unit, and the compressor mechanism. The compressor mechanism unit is provided with a compression chamber compressing a working fluid, and a plurality of muffler chambers arranged side by side in the axial direction of the rotating shaft and provided with respective discharge ports through which the compressed working fluid is discharged. The plurality of muffler chambers include first to third muffler chambers. The first muffler chamber is provided with a first communication port through which the working fluid having flowed through the second muffler chamber is fed to the first muffler chamber and a second communication port through which the working fluid having flowed through the third muffler chamber is fed to the first muffler chamber. The center of the first communication port is positioned in one of two areas in the first muffler chamber, separated by a first straight line passing through the center of the discharge port in the first muffler chamber and the center of the rotating shaft, as viewed from the axial direction, and the center of the second communication port is positioned in the other area.
