Abstract:
(EN) A shadow-cast encoder apparatus comprising a scale and a readhead. The readhead comprises at least one electromagnetic radiation source for illuminating the scale in order to produce a shadow-cast fringe pattern at a detector configured to detect the shadow-cast fringe pattern. The encoder apparatus can be configured so as to suppress the total harmonic distortion of the fringe pattern, e.g such that the total harmonic distortion of the fringe pattern is not more than 6%.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un appareil codeur à projection d'ombre comprenant une échelle et une tête de lecture. La tête de lecture comprend au moins une source de rayonnement électromagnétique pour éclairer l'échelle afin de produire un motif de frange à projection d'ombre au niveau d'un détecteur conçu pour détecter le motif de frange à projection d'ombre. L'appareil codeur peut être conçu de façon à supprimer la distorsion harmonique totale du motif de frange, par exemple de telle sorte que la distorsion harmonique totale du motif de frange ne soit pas supérieure à 6%.
