Each of the display segments (10) is encapsulated with at least one set of light emitting elements, each set comprising light emitting elements separately configured to generate light of three primary colors. The light emitting elements are connected to the controller (12) configured to control light emission of the light emitting elements to enable the display unit to show light of different colors. The display device has the display unit composed of the display segments (10), and is capable of emitting light of different colors, thus enabling display in various colors, and overcoming the problem of existing Nixie tubes being limited to single-color display.
