Abstract:
(EN) Voided carbon fiber tapes comprising from 18K to 125K carbon fibers, a thermoplastic resin having a viscosity of about 10 to about 150 Pa•s, at least 3 void areas, a fiber fraction ranging from about 35 to 70 percent, a void volume ranging from about 2 to about 50 percent, and at least 10 percent wetted carbon fibers may be used to prepare consolidated thermoplastic composites which exhibit flexural strengths greater than or equal to 75 percent of the theoretical flexural strength.
(FR) La présente invention concerne des bandes de fibre de carbone vides comprenant des fibres de carbone de 18K à 125K, une résine thermoplastique ayant une viscosité d’environ 10 à environ 150 Pa•s, au moins 3 surfaces de vide, une fraction de fibre s’étendant d’environ 35 à 70 pour cent, un volume de vide s’étendant d’environ 2 à environ 50 pour cent, et au moins 10 pour cent des fibres de carbone humides pouvant être utilisées pour préparer des composites thermoplastiques consolidés qui font preuve de résistance à la flexion supérieure ou égale à 75 pour cent de la résistance à la flexion théorique.
