Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing a substrate for multi-layered pearlescent pigments, which has a high diameter-to-thickness aspect ratio and a smooth surface. The method involves: comminuting crushed pyrophyllite to a finely ground fraction with an average particle size from 0.5 to 10 mm, preferably from 1 to 3 mm; and then thermally bloating these in a fluidised bed with instantaneous heating to a temperature in the range from 600°С to 1000°С.
