Abstract:
(EN) A method for light-to-frequency conversion comprises generating a photocurrent (IPD) by means of a photodiode (11) and converting the photocurrent (IPD) into a digital comparator output signal (LOUT) in a charge balancing operation depending on a first clock signal (CLK1). From the digital comparator output signal (LOUT) an asynchronous count (C1) is determined and comprises an integer number of counts depending on the first clock signal (CLK1). From the digital comparator output signal (LOUT) a fractional time count (C2) is determined and depends on a second clock signal (CLK2). Finally, from the asynchronous count (C1) and from the fractional time count (C2) a digital output signal (ADC- COUNT) is calculated which is indicative of the photocurrent generated by the photodiode (11). The method may be carried out by an exemplary light-to-frequency converter equipped with a photodiode.
(FR) Un procédé de conversion lumière-fréquence comprend la génération d'un photocourant (IPD) au moyen d'une photodiode (11) et la conversion du photocourant (IPD) en un signal de sortie de comparateur numérique (LOUT) dans une opération d'équilibrage de charge en fonction d'un premier signal d'horloge (CLK1). À partir du signal de sortie de comparateur numérique (LOUT), un comptage asynchrone (C1) est déterminé et comprend un nombre entier de comptes en fonction du premier signal d'horloge (CLK1). À partir du signal de sortie de comparateur numérique (LOUT), un comptage de temps fractionnaire (C2) est déterminé et dépend d'un second signal d'horloge (CLK2). Enfin, à partir du comptage asynchrone (C1) et à partir du comptage de temps fractionnaire (C2), un signal de sortie numérique (ADC-COUNT) est calculé qui indique le photocourant généré par la photodiode (11). Le procédé peut être mis en oeuvre par un convertisseur lumière-fréquence représentatif équipé d'une photodiode.
