An ordered number sequence may be determined based on an ordered sub-channel sequence specifying an order of N sub-channels that are defined by a code and that have associated reliabilities for input bits at N input bit positions. The ordered number sequence represents the ordered sub-channel sequence as a sequence of fewer than N numbers. The numbers in the ordered number sequence indicate the sub-channels, by representing numbers of the sub-channels for example, from different subsets of the N sub-channels, that appear in the order specified by the ordered sub-channel sequence. Using ordered number sequences, longer ordered sub-channel sequences could be constructed from smaller ordered sub-channel sequences, and/or sub-channels that to be selected from a longer ordered sub-channel sequence could be divided into two or more parts, with each part to be selected from shorter ordered sub-channel sequences.

Selon l'invention, une séquence de nombres ordonnée peut être déterminée sur la base d'une séquence de sous-canaux ordonnée spécifiant un ordre de N sous-canaux qui sont définis par un code et auxquels sont associées des fiabilités pour des bits d'entrée à N positions de bits d'entrée. La séquence de nombres ordonnée représente la séquence de sous-canaux ordonnée en tant qu'une séquence de moins de N nombres. Les nombres dans la séquence de nombres ordonnée indiquent les sous-canaux, en représentant des nombres des sous-canaux par exemple, à partir de différents sous-ensembles des N sous-canaux, qui apparaissent dans l'ordre spécifié par la séquence de sous-canaux ordonnée. L'utilisation de séquences de nombres ordonnée permet de construire des séquences de sous-canaux ordonnées plus longues, à partir de séquences de sous-canaux ordonnées plus petites, et/ou de diviser des sous-canaux devant être sélectionnés à partir d'une séquence de sous-canal ordonnée plus longue, en deux parties ou plus, chaque partie devant être sélectionnée à partir de séquences de sous-canal ordonnées plus courtes.
