Abstract:
(EN) A method comprising: receiving a segment request, wherein the segment corresponds to a first duration; providing encapsulated bitstreams having a plurality of self-containing portions having a duration less than the first duration; transmitting a first set of the plurality of self-containing portions, the first set corresponding to a first quality or a first bitrate; receiving a notification to switch to a second quality or a second bitrate; and transmitting a second set of the plurality of self-containing portions, the second set corresponding to the second quality or the second bitrate. The first set and second set may have different intervals between access points. The method is intended for adaptive streaming of multimedia content, especially for streaming encoded 360-degree or virtual reality video content.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé consistant à : recevoir une demande de segment, le segment correspondant à une première durée; fournir des trains de bits encapsulés comportant une pluralité de parties autonomes ayant une durée inférieure à la première durée; transmettre un premier ensemble de la pluralité de parties autonomes, le premier ensemble correspondant à une première qualité ou à un premier débit binaire; recevoir une notification de commutation vers une seconde qualité ou vers un second débit binaire; et transmettre un second ensemble de la pluralité de parties autonomes, le second ensemble correspondant à la seconde qualité ou au second débit binaire. Le premier ensemble et le second ensemble peuvent présenter différents intervalles entre des points d'accès. Le procédé est conçu pour une diffusion adaptative de contenu multimédia, en particulier pour la diffusion de contenu vidéo de réalité virtuelle ou à 360 degrés codé.
