Abstract:
(EN) The present disclosure provides content source and sink devices and methods that help to guard against compromising the security of content transferred from a source device to a sink device, for example where a primary encryption mechanism protecting the content has been compromised. A content source device is disclosed. The content source device is configured to connect to a content sink device to transmit digital media content to the content sink device. The content source device comprises a connection module configured to establish a connection to the sink device, encrypt digital media content for transmission across the connection with a first cipher using a connection key and transmit the encrypted digital media content to the sink device over the connection. The content source also comprises a protection module configured to prevent the sink device from using the digital media content without authorisation. The protection module receives a digital certificate identifying the sink device, verifies the digital certificate and determines if the digital certificate identifies a sink device authorised to receive digital media content over the connection. If the determination is positive, the protection module enables the sink device to use the digital media content.
(FR) La présente invention concerne des dispositifs source et récepteur de contenu et des procédés qui aident à se prémunir contre la remise en cause de la sécurité d'un contenu transféré d'un dispositif source à un dispositif récepteur, par exemple lorsqu'un mécanisme de chiffrement primaire protégeant le contenu a été compromis. Un dispositif source de contenu est décrit. Le dispositif source de contenu est configuré pour se connecter à un dispositif récepteur de contenu afin d'envoyer un contenu numérique de média au dispositif récepteur de contenu. Le dispositif source de contenu comporte un module de connexion configuré pour établir une connexion vers le dispositif récepteur, chiffrer un contenu numérique de média en vue d'une transmission à travers la connexion avec un premier chiffrement utilisant une clé de connexion et envoyer le contenu numérique de média chiffré au dispositif récepteur via la connexion. La source de contenu comporte également un module de protection configuré pour empêcher le dispositif récepteur d'utiliser le contenu numérique de média sans autorisation. Le module de protection reçoit un certificat numérique identifiant le dispositif récepteur, valide le certificat numérique et détermine si le certificat numérique identifie un dispositif récepteur autorisé à recevoir un contenu numérique de média via la connexion. Si la détermination est positive, le module de protection permet au dispositif récepteur d'utiliser le contenu numérique de média.
