Abstract
(EN) Disclosed herein is a quality control method for predicting premature degradation in mechanical properties of a series of moulded plastics components, the moulded plastics components being formed from a batch mixture comprising a cross-linkable polymer and a peroxide cross-linking agent. The method comprises selecting a subset of the series of moulded plastics components and obtaining a material specimen from the subset; and then extracting and measuring a residual peroxide content of the specimen. According to the invention,the measured residual peroxide content is representative of a probability of the premature age-related degradation in the entire series of moulded plastics components, and may therefore be compared against a threshold residual peroxide content to determine whether the entire series of components is of acceptable quality.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de contrôle de qualité permettant de prédire une dégradation prématurée dans des propriétés mécaniques d'une série d'éléments en matières plastiques moulés, les éléments en matières plastiques moulés étant formés à partir d'un mélange discontinu comprenant un polymère réticulable et un agent de réticulation peroxyde. Le procédé comprend la sélection d'un sous-ensemble de la série d'éléments en matières plastiques moulés et l'obtention d'un échantillon de matériau issu du sous-ensemble; puis l'extraction et la mesure d'une teneur en peroxyde résiduel de l'échantillon. Selon l'invention, la teneur en peroxyde résiduel mesurée représente une probabilité de dégradation prématurée liée à l'âge dans toute la série d'éléments en matières plastiques moulés et peut par conséquent être comparée à un taux de peroxyde résiduel seuil afin de déterminer si la série entière d'éléments est de qualité acceptable.
