Abstract:
A wavelength-division multiplexing optical assembly (200) with multiple collimator sets (214A-214B) is disclosed. The WDM optical assembly (200) includes at least one optical signal router (206), at least one WDM filter (208A), and a first and second WDM collimator sets (214A-214B). The first WDM collimator set (214A) includes a first common optical collimator (226A) and at least two channel collimators (228A-230A) and the second WDM collimator set (214B) includes a second common optical collimator (226B) and at least two channel collimators(228B-230B). At least a portion of the first WDM collimator set (214A) is optically positioned on a first surface (204A) of at least one substrate (202), and at least a portion of the second WDM collimator set (214B) is optically positioned on a second surface (204B) of the at least one substrate (202) opposite the first surface (204A). The WDM optical assembly increases lane density while decreasing size and minimizing complexity by using a plurality of WDM common ports.
