Abstract:
(EN) A system, computer readable medium, and method are provided for reducing the power consumption of a mobile device. The method includes the steps of detecting video content to be viewed in an application executed by the mobile device; detecting unwanted content associated with the video content; and operating the mobile device in a low-power mode during playback of the video content in the application in response to detecting the unwanted content. The mobile device may include a memory storing the application and a processor executing the application, which configures the processor to implement the method. Five techniques may be applied in the low-power mode to reduce power consumption including Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS), reducing resolution of content, reducing brightness of a display, masking content, and thread throttling. The low-power mode saves energy when playing back videos on the mobile device.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un système, un support lisible par ordinateur et un procédé pour réduire la consommation d'énergie d'un dispositif mobile. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à : détecter un contenu vidéo à visualiser dans une application exécutée par le dispositif mobile; détecter un contenu non souhaité associé au contenu vidéo; et faire fonctionner le dispositif mobile dans un mode à basse consommation durant la lecture du contenu vidéo dans l'application en réponse à la détection du contenu non souhaité. Le dispositif mobile peut comprendre une mémoire stockant l'application et un processeur exécutant l'application, qui configure le processeur pour mettre en œuvre le procédé. Cinq techniques peuvent être appliquées dans le mode à basse consommation pour réduire la consommation d'énergie, à savoir : une adaptation dynamique de la tension et de la fréquence (DVFS), une réduction de la résolution du contenu, une réduction de la luminosité d'une unité d'affichage, un masquage de contenu et un ralentissement du fil d'exécution. Le mode à basse consommation économise de l'énergie lors de la lecture de vidéos sur le dispositif mobile.
