Abstract

A system for accessing a patient's uterine cavity and detecting perforations in the uterus includes an elongated probe having a flow channel extending to a terminal outlet in a distal region of the probe. A fluid source is coupled to the flow channel, and a seal on the probe is positionable in an endocervical canal. The probe may be trans-cervically inserted into the uterine cavity, and a fluid may be introduced through the channel to flow outwardly from the terminal outlet into the uterine cavity. A parameter of said fluid flow is monitored to detect a perforation in the uterus.

L'invention concerne un système pour accéder à la cavité utérine d'une patiente et détecter des perforations dans l'utérus, comprenant une sonde allongée ayant un canal d'écoulement s'étendant jusqu'à une sortie de terminal dans une région distale de la sonde. Une source de liquide est couplée au canal d'écoulement, et un joint d'étanchéité sur la sonde peut être positionné dans un canal endocervical. La sonde peut être insérée de manière trans-cervicale dans la cavité utérine, et un liquide peut être introduit à travers le canal pour s'écouler vers l'extérieur à partir de la sortie de terminal dans la cavité utérine. Un paramètre dudit écoulement de liquide est surveillé pour détecter une perforation dans l'utérus.
