CLAIMS:

1. A shaving unit for a shaving apparatus, wherein the shaving unit comprises at least two cutting units (10a, 10b; 410a, 410b), and wherein each cutting unit comprises:

an external cutting member (12, 560) having a plurality of hair entry openings

(13);

- an internal cutting member (480a, 580) which is rotatable relative to the external cutting member about an axis of rotation (6a, 6b; 406a, 406b, 506); and

a housing (20a, 20b; 420a, 420b; 520) accommodating a hair collection chamber (27a, 27b; 427a; 527), the housing comprising a base portion (551) and a cover portion (530) which is releasably coupled to the base portion, wherein the external cutting member and the internal cutting member are held in an operating position in the cover portion by means of a holding component (517) which is releasably coupled to the cover portion;

wherein said housing has a closed condition, wherein the cover portion holding the external cutting member and the internal cutting member is coupled to the base portion and closes the hair collection chamber, and an opened condition, wherein the cover portion is at least partially released and at least partially removed from the base portion so that the hair collection chamber is accessible for a user;

characterized in that the base portion (551) of the housing (20a, 20b; 420a,

420b; 520) of each cutting unit (10a, 10b; 410a, 410b) comprises a supporting structure (519a, 519b, 519c, 519d), wherein in the closed position of the housing the external cutting member

(12, 560) is supported by the supporting structure at least in an axial direction parallel to the axis of rotation (6a, 6b; 406a, 406b; 506).

2. The shaving unit according to claim 1, wherein the cover portion (530) is pivotally coupled to the base portion (551) by means of a first hinge mechanism (531).

3. The shaving unit according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the holding component

(517) is pivotally coupled to the cover portion (530) by means of a second hinge mechanism (532).

4. The shaving unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the supporting structure (519a, 519b, 519c, 519d) has an abutment structure (595, 596) providing, in the closed condition of the housing (20a, 20b; 420a, 420b; 520), a form-locking

engagement with the external cutting member (12, 560) in the axial direction.

The shaving unit according to claim 4, wherein, in the closed condition of the housing (20a, 20b; 420a, 420b; 520), the abutment structure (595, 596) provides a form-locking engagement with the external cutting member (12, 560) in a radial direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation (6a, 6b; 406a, 406b; 506).

6. The shaving unit according to claim 4 or 5, wherein the abutment structure (595, 596) comprises at least one abutting surface (595) extending substantially

perpendicularly with respect to the axis of rotation (6a, 6b; 406a, 406b; 506) and facing towards the external cutting member (12, 560) in the closed condition of the housing (20a, 20b; 420a, 420b; 520).

7. The shaving unit according to claim 6, wherein the abutment structure (595, 596) comprises a plurality of abutting surfaces (595) each extending substantially

perpendicularly with respect to the axis of rotation (6a, 6b; 406a, 406b; 506) and each facing towards the external cutting member (12, 560) in the closed condition of the housing (20a, 20b; 420a, 420b; 520), wherein the abutting surfaces are arranged with distances between each other around the axis of rotation.

8. The shaving unit according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the base portion (551) comprises a bottom wall (28a, 28b; 424a; 524) and that the supporting structure (519a, 519b, 519c, 519d) is provided on an inner side of the bottom wall.

The shaving unit according to claim 8, wherein the bottom wall (28 a, 28b; 424a; 524) comprises a central opening (25a, 25b; 425a; 525) and wherein the supporting structure (519a, 519b, 519c, 519d) is arranged around the central opening in a radial position, relative to the axis of rotation (6a, 6b; 406a, 406b; 506), outward of the central opening.

10. The shaving unit according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the shaving unit has a central support member (50, 450) and wherein the cutting units (10a, 10b; 410a, 410b) are each pivotable relative to the central support member about a pivot axis (la, lb; 101a, 101b, 102; 501).

11. The shaving unit according to claim 10, wherein the pivot axis (la, lb; 101a, 101b, 102; 501) is provided by a pivot structure (21a, 22a; 521, 522) by means of which the base portion (551) is connected to the central support member (50, 450).

12. The shaving unit according to claim 10 or 11, wherein the central support member (50, 450) comprises a coupling member (70, 170, 470) by means of which the shaving unit can be releasably coupled to a main housing of the shaving apparatus.

13. A shaving apparatus comprising a main housing accommodating a motor, and comprising a shaving unit according to any one of the preceding claims.

14. The shaving apparatus according to claim 13, wherein the shaving unit is releasably coupled to the main housing by means of a coupling member (70, 170, 470).
