Title: POWER-FACTOR-IMPROVING CONVERTER
Abstract:
This power-factor-improving converter comprises: an inductor (2); a bridge circuit (3) constituted by a series circuit including a first high-potential-side switch circuit (31) and a first low-potential-side switch circuit (32), and a series circuit including a second high-potential-side switch circuit (33) and a second low-potential-side switch circuit (34); an output capacitor (4); and a control circuit (5). When an input alternating voltage is in a positive phase, the second high-potential-side switch circuit (33) is turned off, the second low-potential-side switch circuit (34) is turned on, the first low-potential-side switch circuit (32) is employed as a master switch and the first high-potential-side switch circuit (31) is employed as a slave switch, and these switches are driven so as to be turned on and off alternately. When the input alternating voltage is in a negative phase, the on/off and the master-slave relationship are reversed, and also, when an absolute value of the input alternating voltage is less than or equal to a first predetermined value, only the master switch is driven so as to be turned on and off, and the slave switch is kept in an off state.
