Abstract

Described embodiments include an apparatus (21) for removal of a thrombus from a body of a subject. The apparatus includes a first electrode (3), made of a first conductive metal having a first electronegativity, and a second electrode (26), made of a second conductive metal having a second electronegativity that is less than the first electronegativity. The apparatus further includes a voltage source (46), configured to apply a positive unipolar voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode while the first electrode is in contact with the thrombus, and while the second electrode is inside the body of the subject. Other embodiments are also described.

Des modes de réalisation décrits comprennent un appareil (21) permettant de retirer un thrombus du corps d'un sujet. L'appareil comprend une première électrode (3), constituée d'un premier métal conducteur ayant une première électronégativité, et une seconde électrode (26), constituée d'un second métal conducteur ayant une seconde électronégativité qui est inférieure à la première électronégativité. L'appareil comprend en outre une source de tension (46), conçue pour appliquer une tension unipolaire positive entre la première électrode et la seconde électrode tandis que la première électrode est en contact avec le thrombus, et tandis que la seconde électrode est à l'intérieur du corps du sujet.
