Abstract

A classification framework for processing multi-band raster data for display of content included in such data includes a summarization phase and a retrieval phase. The classification framework generates summary descriptions of the multi-band raster data which are substantially smaller than the raster data itself, and approximates quantile breaks in the multi-band raster data so that storage space used to describe observations and network bandwidth required to retrieve the summary descriptions of the multi-band raster data are reduced, enabling speed improvements at least by faster retrieval and performance of computations for generating displays based on the raster data and for large-scale analysis.

Selon l’invention, une structure de classification permettant de traiter des données de trame multi-bandes pour l'affichage d'un contenu inclus dans de telles données comprend une phase de récapitulation et une phase de récupération. La structure de classification génère des descriptions récapitulatives des données de trame multi-bandes qui sont sensiblement plus petites que les données de trame elles-mêmes et correspond approximativement aux interruptions de quantiles dans les données de trame multi-bandes de façon à réduire l'espace de stockage utilisé pour décrire les observations et la bande passante de réseau nécessaire pour récupérer les descriptions récapitulatives des données de trame multi-bandes, ce qui permet d’améliorer les vitesses grâce au moins à la récupération rapide et à la réalisation de calculs permettant de générer des affichages d’après les données de trame pour une analyse à grande échelle.
