Title: POLYESTER TIRE CORD AND RADIAL TIRE USING SAME
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a radial tire having a cap ply formed from polyethylene terephthalate dipped cords. The radial tire comprises: a pair of parallel bead cores; at least one radial carcass ply wound around the bead cores; a cap ply layer layered on the outer circumference of the carcass ply; and a circumferential-direction cap ply reinforcing layer formed on the outer circumference of the cap ply layer, wherein the cap ply comprises dipped cords formed from a single ply or two plies of a 500-2,000 denier yarn formed from high strength polyethylene terephthalate yarn, wherein, among the dipped cords, a 1,000d/2 dipped cord exhibits a stress-strain curve whereby the dipped cord elongates by less than 5.0% when subjected to an initial stress of 5 kgf, elongates by at most 9.0% when subjected to a stress of 10 kgf, and elongates by at least 1.0% when subjected to a range of stress from a stress of 14 kgf to the stress when the dipped cord breaks, or a 1,500d/2 dipped cord exhibits a stress-strain curve whereby the dipped cord elongates by less than 4.0% when subjected to an initial stress of 5 kgf, elongates by at most 7.3% when subjected to a stress of 10 kgf, and elongates by at least 1.5% when subjected to a range of stress from a stress of 16 kgf to the stress when the dipped cord breaks.
