An imaging element (10) is provided with: a photoelectric conversion member (111) for receiving light during an exposure period, for each exposure period that is repeated on a first cycle, and thereby generating electric charge; a plurality of pixel circuits (21) for collecting the electric charge in pixel units, the electric charge being generated by the photoelectric conversion member (111); a readout circuit (130) for reading out the amount of electric charge accumulated in each of the plurality of pixel circuits (21); and an output circuit (140) for outputting an image based on the amount of electric charge read out by the readout circuit (130). The readout circuit (130) repeats the readout on a second cycle different from the first cycle.
