Abstract:
Provided are a practically useful organic EL element which has high efficiency and high drive stability, and a compound suitable for the organic EL element. The present invention pertains to a compound that is for an organic electroluminescent element, that is represented by general formula (1), and that has a backbone structure linked with an aromatic hydrocarbon group and/or an aromatic heterocyclic group, wherein the molecular weight of the backbone structure excluding the substituents is 500-1500, and the number of conformations produced by conformation searching calculation performed on the backbone structure is 9-100,000. Here, Ar represents an aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6-30 carbon atoms, an aromatic heterocyclic group having 3-24 carbon atoms, or a linked aromatic group in which 2-10 of these aromatic rings are linked together, HetAr represents an aromatic heterocyclic group having 3-24 carbon atoms, and z represents an integer of 2-5.
