Provided is an ultraviolet ray transmitting filter which has a plate thickness capable of supporting miniaturization of a device, and which has prescribed ultraviolet ray transmissive properties while sufficiently blocking visible light and near infrared light. The ultraviolet ray transmitting filter has an absorbent body. For a spectral transmittance curve of 250 to 1100nm wavelengths in respect to light with a 0° incidence angle: the full width at half maximum of the maximum transmission wavelength λTmax(0°) in the range of 280-400nm wavelengths has a transmission wavelength band of at least 10nm; and the transmittance at the maximum transmission wavelength λTmax(0°) is at least 30%. When transmittance is standardized as 1 at the maximum transmission wavelength λTmax(0°), the average transmittance in respect to 400-1100nm wavelength light is no greater than 0.3. The thickness of the filter is no greater than 0.5mm.
