Provided are a direction angle of arrival estimation method and apparatus. The direction angle of arrival estimation method provided by the embodiments of the present application is executed in a system comprising a sending end and a receiving end, and is executed on the receiving end. The receiving end is provided with M antennas, M being an integer greater than or equal to 3; and the sending end transmits, on N carriers, data to the receiving end, N being an integer greater than or equal to 5. The method comprises: firstly, by measuring channel phase information of M antennas respectively on N subcarriers, obtaining a first channel phase matrix; then extracting several sub-channel phase matrices from the first channel phase matrix, wherein the number of elements in the various sub-channel phase matrices is less than the number of elements in the first channel phase matrix; and according to the several sub-channel phase matrices, estimating direction angle of arrival information of multiple azimuths. Therefore, the technical solution provided by the embodiments of the present application can solve the problem of the current AOA estimation method that when the number of antennas is relatively small, an obtained AOA estimation result has a relatively low accuracy and relatively poor universality.
