Abstract:
(EN) Systems and methods of facilitating the viewing of interventional instruments (e.g., needles, catheters, guidewires, vascular filters, biopsy probes) are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a portable, handheld or cart-based ultrasound imaging machine is connected to an external laser light source that transmits laser light to a tip of an interventional instrument via one or more optical fibers. The laser light is absorbed at the distal tip of the instrument and generates a photoacoustic signal. The ultrasound imaging machine creates an image by combining data from the received photoacoustic signals with ultrasound echo data to show both tissue in a region of interest and the tip of the interventional instrument.
(FR) L'invention concerne des systèmes et des méthodes pour faciliter la visualisation d'instruments d'intervention (p. ex., aiguilles, cathéters, fils de guidage, filtres vasculaires, sondes de biopsie). Dans un mode de réalisation, une machine d'imagerie par ultrasons portative, de poche ou sur chariot est connectée à une source de lumière laser externe qui transmet une lumière laser à la pointe d'un instrument d'intervention par l'intermédiaire d'une ou de plusieurs fibres optiques. La lumière laser est absorbée à la pointe distale de l'instrument et génère un signal photoacoustique. La machine d'imagerie par ultrasons crée une image par combinaison des données provenant des signaux photoacoustiques reçus avec des données d'échos ultrasonores qui montre à la fois le tissu dans la région d'intérêt et la pointe de l'instrument d'intervention.
