Abstract:
(EN) A process for producing paraxylene by the catalytic alkylation of benzene and/or toluene with methanol. In prior art processes, water is typically co-injected with the methanol to improve the utilization of methanol, increase the amount of methanol that reacts with the benzene and/or toluene, and decrease the amount of methanol that decomposes to undesirable carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, or water or reacts with itself to produce unwanted light olefinic gases. Rather than using purified methanol and co-feeding water as is taught in the prior art, crude, or unpurified, methanol that contains at least 5 wt%, such as between 5 and 35 wt%, water, based on the total amount of water and methanol feed, can be used as the alkylating agent, reducing the need to co-inject water at least partially, if not completely.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de production de paraxylène par alkylation catalytique de benzène et/ou de toluène avec du méthanol. Dans les procédés selon l’état de la technique, de l'eau est typiquement co-injectée avec le méthanol pour améliorer l'utilisation du méthanol, augmenter la quantité de méthanol qui réagit avec le benzène et/ou le toluène, et diminuer la quantité de méthanol qui se décompose en monoxyde de carbone indésirable, en dioxyde de carbone, ou en eau, ou réagit avec lui-même pour produire des gaz oléfiniques légers indésirables. Au lieu d'utiliser du méthanol purifié et de l'eau de co-alimentation comme décrit dans l'état de la technique, du méthanol brut ou non purifié qui contient au moins 5 % en poids, par exemple entre 5 et 35 % en poids, de l'eau, sur la base de la quantité totale d'eau et de charge d'alimentation de méthanol, peut être utilisé en tant qu'agent alkylant, réduisant le besoin de co-injecter de l'eau au moins partiellement, si ce n'est pas totalement.
