Title: SURFACE COATED CUTTING TOOL
Abstract:
A surface coated cutting tool comprises a base material made of a cemented carbide and a coating. The coating includes an intermediate layer in contact with the base material, and an upper layer formed on the intermediate layer. The upper layer is a single layer comprising an upper basal layer that is a layer in contact with the intermediate layer or a multilayer of two or more layers including the upper basal layer. The crystal system of the base material is a hexagonal crystal system. The intermediate layer and the upper basal layer have a NaCl-type crystal structure. The thickness of the intermediate layer is 3 nm to 10 nm, inclusive. The interplanar spacing mismatch in the boundary region of the base material and the intermediate layer is 65% or less than the theoretical value of the interplanar spacing mismatch between the base material and the upper basal layer.
