Abstract:
The invention aims to produce technical (meth)acrylic acid while avoiding the problem of fouling of the equipment used to purify the raw reaction mixture for (meth)acrylic acid synthesis, in particular due to the presence of glyoxal formed during the synthesis process. The invention consists of adding or generating a quinolinic derivative in a stream of (meth)acrylic acid containing glyoxal in a quinolinic derivative / glyoxal molar ratio ranging from 0.1 to 5, during the purification steps, said quinolinic compound having one of the formulas (I) or (II), wherein groups R1, R2, R3 and R4 separately refer to a hydrogen atom or a C1-C6 alkyl group, or R1 and R2 form, together and with the atoms to which they are bonded, a saturated or unsaturated ring or heterocyclic compound, preferably a phenyl group, and/or R3 and R4 form, together and with the atoms to which they are bonded, a saturated or unsaturated ring or heterocyclic compound, preferably a phenyl group.
