Abstract:
In an ionizer and a mass spectrometer according to the present invention, a conductive capillary (22) is provided frontward in the direction of travel of an atomized flow from an ionizing probe (21) that comprises a capillary (211), a thin metal tube (212), and a nebulizer gas tube (213) and that is capable of ionizing components within a liquid sample by the ESI method. The components within a liquid sample are ionized by the APCI method by applying a high voltage to the conductive capillary (22) from a high voltage power supply (23) and generating a corona discharge. When performing tuning or the like of the device, a standard sample solution is supplied to the conductive capillary (22), high voltage is applied to the conductive capillary (22) from the high voltage power supply (23), and the components within the standard sample solution are ionized by the ESI method or by an ion-molecule reaction with solvent molecule ions generated by the ionizing probe (21). As a result, it is possible to ionize the components within the standard sample solution and perform mass spectrometry without switching piping connections or switching a flow path by a valve.
