A light detection device according to the present invention is provided with a semiconductor substrate in which a plurality of pixels are arranged in one dimension. The light detection device has, for each pixel, a plurality of avalanche photodiodes for operating in a Geiger mode, a plurality of quenching resistors electrically connected in series to the corresponding avalanche photodiodes, and signal processing units for processing output signals from the plurality of avalanche photodiodes. Light reception regions of the plurality of avalanche photodiodes are arranged in two dimensions for each pixel. Each of the signal processing units has a gate ground circuit and a current mirror circuit electrically connected to the gate ground circuit. The plurality of avalanche photodiodes of corresponding pixels are electrically connected to the gate ground circuits through the plurality of quenching resistors. The current mirror circuits output signals corresponding to the output signals from the plurality of avalanche photodiodes.
