Abstract:
This voltage detection device (25, 31, 41, 51, 61, 71) for detecting voltages applied to input nodes (4N, 9) is provided with switching elements (13, 14) that are serially interposed on the paths from the input nodes to a voltage detection circuit (10) for voltage detection, a charge pump circuit (15, 54) for generating a stepped up voltage for turning on a switching element by stepping up an input voltage, a step-up capacity reduction unit (19, 33, 43, 53, 65, 73), and a failure detection unit (24). The step-up capacity reduction unit carries out a capacity reduction operation for reducing the step-up capacity of the charge pump circuit. The failure detection unit detects a failure in the charge pump circuit on the basis of a first detection value that is the value of the detected voltage output from the voltage detection circuit during the period when the step-up capacity reduction unit is not carrying out the capacity reduction operation and a second detection value that is output from the voltage detection circuit during a period when the step-up capacity reduction unit is carrying out the capacity reduction operation.
