Abstract:
(EN) Energy may be stored by injecting fluid into a fracture in the earth and producing the fluid back while recovering power and/or desalinating water. The method may be particularly adapted to storage of large amounts of energy such as in grid-scale electric energy systems. The fracture may be formed and treated with resin so as to limit fluid loss and to increase propagation pressure. The fluid may be water containing a dissolved salt or fresh water and a portion or all of the water may be desalinated using pressure in the water when it is produced.
(FR) L’invention concerne le stockage d'énergie en injectant un fluide dans une fracture du sol et en produisant le fluide en retour tout en récupérant de l'énergie et/ou en dessalant l'eau. Le procédé est particulièrement adapté au stockage de grandes quantités d'énergie, telles que dans les systèmes d'énergie électrique à l'échelle du réseau. La fracture hydraulique peut être formée et traitée avec de la résine de façon à limiter la perte de fluide et à augmenter la pression de propagation. Le fluide peut être de l'eau contenant un sel dissout ou de l'eau douce et une partie ou la totalité de l'eau peut être dessalée en utilisant la pression dans l'eau lorsqu'elle est produite.
